Overview
It has been 40 years since AIDS was first reported. A disease that, as it later turned out, is caused by the HIV virus.
HIV is a virus transmitted sexually and through blood that spread rapidly from the 1980s onwards, including in the Netherlands. In this film, those involved from the very beginning look back on the first phase of the pandemic, when the virus was deadly as well as the scientific developments that have since taken place, turning HIV in the Netherlands into a chronic disease.
