Overview

During the first year of treatment, approximately 59–100% of all cancer patients experience fatigue complaints. These complaints can persist for a long time, sometimes even years. In this e-learning for doctors and nurses, psycho-oncologist Dr. Bram Kuiper and internist-oncologist Dr. Rutger Koornstra discuss the underlying causes of fatigue in cancer, and how healthcare providers can help their patients with this.

What

The e-learning is interactive: multiple-choice questions are posed to viewers throughout. After answering, the speaker explains why the chosen answer is correct or incorrect. The programme consists of an introduction, three modules, a closing section and a final test.
Module 1 is a group discussion on why it is important that more attention is given to the fatigue issues of (recovering) cancer patients.

Modules 2 and 3 are presentations by Dr. Koornstra on causes, diagnosis and treatment plans, and by Dr. Kuiper on possible solutions such as the use of e-health. Finally, the previous modules are reviewed in a group discussion.

Participating healthcare professionals earn accreditation points upon completing this e-learning, for which a final test must be completed after all sections.
